Mont St. Michel and Brittany Overnight – Day 1 Itinerary
You will be pre-booked for the high speed rail to St. Malo, departing from Montparnasse station and timed for mid- afternoon hotel check in. Upon arrival, a quick cab ride takes you to your hotel. Enjoy a beachside walk, aquarium visit, seafood snack or take a whirl at the casino. Self touring in beautiful St. Malo makes for a great day.

About Mont St. Michel and Dinan
Dinan
Along the river Rance, just a few miles from St. Malo, is the preserved medieval village of Dinan. As a river town, the village was an important focus of trade in the Middle Ages. Rather than along the river banks and in the flats, village houses and shops climb high up into the hills, making the town ready to defend in case of attack – be it by pirates or invaders.
About Mont Saint Michel
Medieval monk Aubert (later the sainted bishop of Avranches) was visited by a seemingly impossible vision from archangel Michael, instructing him to build a monastery atop a rock cut off by tides twice a day. Over many centuries his vision was made a reality, and the result, Mont St. Michel, is now the second-most-visited site in France, after the Eiffel Tower.

Can you stay overnight on Mont St Michel?
Yes, it is possible to stay overnight at Mont St. Michel. There are several small hotels on the island. However, we recommend staying in the walled city of Saint Malo. There isn’t much to do once the Mont closes and the hotels aren’t really set up with a lot of amenities due to space restrictions on the island.
