About Hotel Negresco - Nice

As much a museum as a hotel, the Negresco was built as a “palace” in 1912 and owned since 1957 by Jeanne Augier, who has turned it into a showplace for French art and furnishings. Even if you are not staying there, try to visit (subtly, as word has it the staff isn’t particularly fond of lookie-loos). The animal-friendly hotel was once known for its hotel cat, “Pussy,” (named after a character from an English TV series, not James Bond’s Pussy Galore) and for the celebrities who would fawn over it, including Brigitte Bardot, who would come up from St. Tropez just to visit him.
